Where The Buffalo Roam
After a nice morning with Mme DK and M KJ we drove carefully down the slippery dirt road back to Douglas, tended to some items requiring internet and reception, and left to continue our eastern trajectory.
More of wondrous Wyoming.

Did you know there is a Wyoming ordinance requiring 100 acres per cow to keep the land from being overgrazed?
Treebeard?

The wind is certainly a blowing. At a rest stop I watched a woman walk back to her car with her hands at maximum effort to keep on her hat while simultaneously covering her ears. Massive concrete structures protected both picnic tables and the garbage area too from what must be a majorly persistent westerly wind. It must be brutal in the winter. Even the door into the restroom area faced east. How come there aren’t some epic wind farms here guys?
Super cool rocks from out of nowhere in Wyoming on the Nebraskan boarder. They compelled us to drive up some dirt road to better investigate.

I am embarrassed to confess how little faith I had in the beauty described in Willa Cather’s O Pioneers. Where we are is everything she wrote and, frankly, then some. A hypnotic tapestry of greens over the rolling hills accented by these crazy, oddly towering rock masterpieces, the never ending and never identical herds, meandering rivers, and most excellent clouds.
A view from Fort Robinson Park.

We are staying the night at Prairie Wind Casino in a huge suite for $57. Apparently the reception staff was equally surprised at the rate; I was informed this is not the normal price and asked what I wanted to do. All was ok after I inquired if it was being suggested that the agreement is not going to be honored. Seriously, the gigantic bathroom is probably 130 square feet alone. There are 2 TVs. We gave the casino $2 in search of big money. We were up to $2.76 for a second!
We walked back to the room, proudly holding our $.41 numerologically significant voucher. After a jacuzzi bath and juice we zonked out.
