The Drawer Is In
What is to hold and, if desired, simultaneously extend to ease access to the refrigerator has been, given the requirements, size and weight, the axis upon which most every other decision revolved. Here it is, to meeting a major milestone.
Check out the two drawers underneath, 500lb capacity sliders, and evidence of my desire to practice joins. There will be another identical pair of drawers between the top of the fridge and the countertop. The plywood on currently top is not permanent and will soon be used to construct a storage area by the mattress; also to go is the thin crosspiece, currently stabilizing the 2×4 not touching a wall and blocking the yet to be put in inner slides for the upper drawers. The white wire in the bottom right is all that remains of the tank, spigot and pump which used to be on the floor.

A different angle of my new favorite drawer.

This is the first drawer I’ve made which was not attached to a guaranteed square [enough] factory made cabinet. Also, these sliders do not separate, requiring the wood to be attached to the sliders as they were being screwed in.
Ultimately it means time for getting the hardware to hold the mighty drawer and many cabinet doors in place while driving, along with what would be the first wood not reused or scrap laying around the house. Lo! There by the entrance are two abandoned stickers which would do perfectly! From a generous Krishna? And just like that, the perfect gift.
My very sturdy Xmas gift!!!!!

On the matter of volume and intensity, none of the people with whom I’ve spoken riding the trails at Joaquin Miller have ever shown a smidge of interest in shuttling. One guy I spoke with recently tells me he does 3 loops typically. If you’re wondering, that’s plenty more miles and uphill than me. Like 3-4x the elevation of my usual route. This Mr. Three Looper and everyone else too got me thinking it might be time to go perhaps a little bit longer. Perhaps.
One of my left ribs has been paining for a week. I swing myself between the seats en route to the back area where the work is currently underway, and think going from never swinging to often has been too much. Or maybe from one time I was twisting on the floor to screw in something and, as the seat tracks are 1/4″ over the floor, put more weight on one rib. Or because I’m left footed and right handed. Anyway, I’m thankful it’s not impeding much, other than being major encouragement to cease that movement. Biking yesterday was beneficial.
The last of the leftover drywall has been tossed. 9 years old.
