Is This Much Fun Legal?

May 1, 2018 Facts Mountain Biking 2 Comments

I slept in and woke up nicely rested. If I could figure out how to sleep that well day after day, my recovery time would maybe approach zero.

Along with with M DN and nearing noon, we finally made it to breakfast where we learned about “Leavy”-ing. To make a long story short, not recommended.

Back at the house, I made a quick decision to go bike the Starr Pass Main Loop while Mme Awesome attended to business matters. This turned out to be one of the best rides ever. The route offered both chunky garden style and flowy over and over at the right grades. Not surprisingly, despite being a bit out of the city, I saw a number of other bikers. It was simply 9.2 miles of supreme fun.

The wonderful scenery matched the great riding. Note the gorgeous Palo Verde with its signature green trunk and yellow flowers on the left. It is Arizona’s state tree.

I did experience a mechanical of sorts; early in the ride, after traversing yet another rocky area I heard a hiss coming from my rear tire, the kind that suggests a flat. Not good. Except I use Stans and didn’t see any oozing out. As I couldn’t find where there might be a hole after listening closely, I concluded (and hoped) the sound was the wind in the cacti. I checked the pressure a few times via the squeeze technique as I rode, and while I would have put more air in if I had my floor pump, there seemed to be enough. After the ride and the drive back to the house, however, it was plain the tire had lost a lot of air and will need attention. Something for tomorrow.

We had a fun and delicious bbq at the outdoor table, sharing stories, facts and myths. Afterwards, I slipped into bed with a smile still on my face.

Fun Tuscon fact: there is no street side parallel parking allowed, which eliminates traffic delays and risks from waiting for a parallel parker to finish the deed. Nice!

Medical update: I have had a rash on my foot forever. Literally years guys. And then guess what? Mme Awesome made a custom cream with specific essential oils and now I have a clean bill of health. I’m not the first; PM me if you want a consultation and I can make it happen.

I hear you; sitting there, filling up those 2.3 tires with a mini pump provides more scenery viewing time than needed.
