Calm Before the Storm

June 22, 2018 Facts The Bus No Comments

This weekend is going to be something! I have the tools and an identified place to do the work. Weather looks good. Picked up some work pants and demo gloves too. I can mail what’s needed to get the bus registered tomorrow. Soundproofing stuff is on the way. I spent time in the bus visualizing.

Truly there are so many things that *can* be done. Easily overwhelming. Gotta breathe and focus on 1. creating a place for the passengers and driver to sit comfortably and safely; 2. being able to store our things, 3. paint the exterior. Breathe and focus. After the critical stuff I can perhaps start with the great to have items: better engine soundproofing, electric, water, music, whatever. Lord there are so many wires and lights and what’s that oh it is a place for a CB radio and what is that thing over there and on and on. Don’t forget to attach the driver’s side headlight correctly, that’s important!

M B is interested in the project too and has been a real asset basically since day 1. He has done related projects and for sure has a solid quality thought process. He works from home generally, which means over the day we can catch each other. I sometimes take those opportunities to run ideas by him and reliably get good feedback. We went over ideas inside the bus today and his curiosity and comments regarding parts I’ve maybe not even acknowledged existed were encouraging.

The river is 11 feet above normal. It looks like the Bayou. This morning, the normally dry creek had rapids from the higher lands needing their water to go somewhere. Once the rain stops, I’m told, we may get wind = drying; or stagnation = mosquitoes like you can’t believe. That happened a year or so ago. Supposedly more people are going to be camping down there in a couple of weeks. Good thing we didn’t build the kayak rack – it would be underwater now. The houses on either side are not built on as high ground and that year of the mosquito nearly saw the river breach their houses. No one has been out on the porch with the cast iron chairs and table for a meal this week. It is also cold. Like I should be wearing pants outside cold.

I received word that Mme Awesome’s Sun Dance was amazing. Thank you all for your attention and support.
