Today in Taft
I’m in a barber shop. Not kidding and not the start of a joke. There’s a discussion on how our current president is fixing things and how without him we’d be in [more of] a crappy situation. Not a rich area, guys. It turns out the barber is that famous combo of garrulous and slow. Yes: the barber and a fellow customer are having another discussion on said subject and are of course dating sisters. Plus I’m third in line in a small room. It all adds up to a very long and supremely fun wait while we had at it.
In an apparent nonsequitor to be shortly explained, let’s talk about those two important continuums, pain and strength. Meaning whether we judge changes positive on the decrease of pain for the former and increase of strength for the latter.
It started because the barber explained he was experiencing back pain from a roller coaster. I brought up this pain vs strength continuum stuff and he told me that his bench was quite big. That’s cool, however in this realm of self discovery, we must compare ourselves to ourselves for recognizing the unadulterated benefits which can come from minor changes perhaps not visible. I showed how this can be applied to walking: am I pushing off with the ball of my feet, extending back, hips rotated, etc. Because why not always be living in such a way that encourages our nervous system to by default move in strength.
That aside, of course you have to resolve the pain. Imo gotta walk well which is in strength; and if you can’t then figure out how, next lower in complexity is to stand strongly. Then we bust out the props and use the floor who knows lol. Come see me! Glad to help.
