Soquel Demo Ride plus Dinner
Mountain biked in Soquel Demo Forest today with M AW and M LC. Great day. While we all talked about doing the Flow Trail twice, in the end, one loop was enough. I didn’t remember the Ridge Trail having as much “Makes me go woah” sections. The Flow Trail was, as usual super fun.
I had a very full backpack. This one, though the 18L model. I don’t think I carry too much and yet it was, to repeat myself, definitely full. Here is what I brought:
- 2L water bladder thing filled up
- Spare tube, pump and tire levers
- Some food – dried fruit, some nuts and 2 bars
- Garmin InReach
- Phone & wallet
- Windbreaker, just in case – and I did wear it by the way
- Multi tool
- Sunglasses or yellow glasses, depending on what I am wearing
- Small first aid kit
Some people had a single water bottle and small seat pack. Perhaps one day when I am in shape I’ll be fast enough I won’t need so much?
It was great to hang out with the guys. I’m sorry M JL had to cancel today.
On the way home, I picked up my favorite coffee order: 2 or 3 espresso shots (number depending of course) poured over ice + simple syrup + half & half. No suprise Mme. Awesome concocted that!
The ride there and back was much shorter since I picked up M. AW along the way. We couldn’t figure out how prison privatization was good. Also, and I double quote, “I think I have a new favorite outdoor activity.”
Mme Awesome had made a delectable and delicious dinner of seared salmon, rice, salad. We put it all in a bowl with avocado, wasabi and pickled ginger. Super yum.
