Another Day Goes By
I picked up the remaining cabinet and also found a bunch of 1x3s to make the slats for the benches on today’s long and preferably avoided voyage. I guess I don’t get tired of saying it: driving an hour drive here, the whole thing, with all the nutso drivers amplified by the humidity and heat, is just plain exhausting.
After returning, I sanded and removed the hinges from the doors of some cabinets that are going to be painted tomorrow. The sanding block, highly touted by the DIY car painters, is definitely not worth its salt. (That’s an accolade btw.) Sarah showed up with some putty and I filled in the holes for the no longer present handles.
Fortunately by now was late enough in the day to get a semblance of relief.
We bisected and reinforced a two drawer cabinet that’s going to make up the left and right ends of the back bench.
Believe it or not and against all odds, construction has begun.
Well, replacing the oil pan and some transmission hoses, which apparently require 18 hours of labor, is hooray complete. Ten thousand thundering typhoons later, a brake issue was found, which means I still don’t have it. Perhaps this is the same brakes thing that was felt during the test drive. Who knows. 😕
If I were chanting a mantra appropriate for the day, it would be the following. Courtesy of my friend and former colleague M AM:
You can only control the things you can control.
Yeah, that kind of day. For days actually.
