And Then There Were Three
The last two nights we’ve stayed at The Trinity House. It was managed by precisely the considerate, pleasant and on top of everything host you’d hope for and I had a great experience with everyone.
The house itself was super flexible and could accommodate many for the actual square footage. Remember the “tents” from the Harry Potter stories which were so marvelously expansive inside? Same thing! Everywhere was a full bathroom too, so there were never lines. It also contained two full kitchens and plenty of parking. And a full on thermal mass rocket stove, the first I’ve ever seen in person and so killer I dragged out a word from the 80s.
Then there was the food, which was consistently delicious. I was happy to be the bus boy and let the clearly qualified chefs do their magic.
We made it out of there about midday to settle back in at M B’s and get to work on organizing the bus, taking out the now unneeded seats and adding on to the back sofa to give support for the mattress. I also filled in a rusted out corner of the back door with two deftly carved pieces of wood. Perhaps someday I’ll cover it with bondo and paint it gold to match. For now, though, it is far and away good enough.
I think there’s about 2-3 hours more to do before we’re seaworthy. Mostly changing the shelf heights to accommodate the bikes really. We’ll get our route in place tomorrow while the bus is in the shop and that’s about it for Albuquerque.
Yes, the last of the Teyuna is headed home. At the cell phone lot, where I waited as Mme Awesome and M O escorted M K, a real, live trumpet sounded taps. I mean, you can’t make this stuff up.
