My Left Shoulder
I rode at Onteora Lake today, this route pretty much. Another rocky, rooty XC climb fest. It was ok except for the mosquitos. Like the most ever. I actually turned off the passcode on my phone hoping to make checking the route quicker and thus keep the attact time to a minimum.
Remember in the more recent Battlestar Galactica when the cylons somehow were able to jump to the same place as the human fleet after not too many minutes of downtime, upon when a volley of fighters attacked and their futuristic weapons were shot a zillion times? Bingo, that was it. Really it was no problem, unless I was not moving on my bike. Pushing my bike = attack.
So I’ve got this left shoulder thing. Of course thing means a not good. I tend to have my share of a de facto shoulder rounding from a tight anterior side. Plus I’ve dislocated that one for sure 3 previous times. And I keep focusing on my hips at the expense of everything else.
Today tragically marks the second time I’ve used my right hand to whack my left forearm hoping to kill a bug and experienced a quick but definite dislocated shoulder.
Plus it happened when I was pushing my bike through the forest as I’d lost the trail and hopefully over that away I’d restumble upon it. Frankly, I was thirsty and totally done with the f-ing ride long before I was pushing away branches with my helmet because I needed both hands on the bars. Anyway, in my crazed state, yes, that is what happened.
So I did get back to the trail and with miles to go I decided to not walk back. Glad no falls, and, a wonderful dip in the lake awaited. That part was great.
We headed to Woodstock because it was so close and obviously destiny. We found the Garden Cafe and the meal both tasted and made us feel good.
The route from today’s ride is from September 2, 2018. Not that long ago. Man, it would have saved me if I coulda tagged along.
The only photo. It was a beautiful place. So why this? As I breezed by, the dark spot on the mushroom reminded me of the hookah smoking caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland and I straight up laughed.
