Through Nashville
We need to be back in CA by November 6 to vote. Stopping at Crestone for 3 nights and Albuquerque for one along the way. Google maps say 1 day 15 hours at speeds we can’t sustain. 1231 miles, then 252, with the last leg 1074. A grand total of 2557 miles. At 55 mph, that’s 46 1/2 hours of driving. With 19 days remaining, we’d need to average 2 1/2 hours of driving or 135 miles per day, which looks reasonable on paper except that’s not exiting the highway for fuel or food or sleep and assuming no mechanical issues.
Today, for instance, we left the kampground at 11, arriving here close to 9. Meaning nearly 10 hours, right? For a grand total of 184 miles. If we can keep this up, we’ll meet our goal.
However, we want to be in Crestone Sunday evening. That means 308 miles per day for the next 4. Also, no blues in Memphis or Colorado Springs and that exquisite French bakery. Sacrifices!
Get this: we left Stone Ridge, NY 7 days ago. That’s 1006 miles as the trucker drives, averaging 144 miles per day. Aren’t some people’s daily commutes longer? Of course, along the we’ve seen true beauty and had never to be forgotten times, and our actual mileage is plenty more. The point is we’re pretty low speed travelers, and that’s turning into a liability for the goals.
Place your bets!
We stopped at Edger Evins State Park today and enjoyed the nature. Does anyone remember what we did there on the trip east? 5 Zeke Points for the first person to get it right.
A low level view from the trail.

In Nashville we thoroughly enjoyed a blackened catfish po boy and then a fried oyster one at Saltines. Thoroughly guys.
