Been sick. Lots of sleeping and bumping around the place.

Get this: back in New Paltz, where civilization still exists, the laptop stopped charging; then, today, while preparing to send it in to the manufacturer for repair, I log in as an admin and it does charge. An update was installed when I had thus logged in; this update either didn’t install as a regular user or had waited until this very day to make itself known. All appears back to normal except sensibilities.
