Winter Preparation
We’ve moved most of the wood from the patio to a spot uphill and 30 feet away per advice. Wouldn’t it be just too ironic if the very wood we’ve taken from the finger forest certainly in part to help with fire mitigation that runs on either side of the creek caught our place on fire? DOH!

The big rounds on the sides are from working yesterday with M PM, who wielded the chainsaw and whose truck made the move possible in one day. Where they aren’t is blocking a second row. Yes, those are water loving cottonwoods and as this was not long dead ’twas consequently rather heavy! That means waiting till they’ve dried some before splitting. Same with the couple of larger pinion pines you can see in the middleish section of the pile.
M PM works for the college across the creek and this was one of a number being taken out as they’re dead and leaning. The plan is to partner up to facilitate their move from there to here where they’ll be split and then the bounty shared.
While waiting for more rounds to carry, Mme Awesome and I pruned the Mirkwoodesque forest. The change possible from only trimming part of one day is nuts. We’re working elsewhere on the creek’s tall admirers too. It’s a peaceful activity and great having a symbiotic relationship with the forest. To recap, yes we have some wood and more is coming.
Soon it can go in here, the delivered and currently inside hanging out on a furniture dolly waiting for the chimney Heco 420.
