Sound of Silence
I used a crosswalk today and there was no coo coo noise to help blind folks. It seems that every crosswalk at a light is identifiable by a pair in the Bay Area. M R, who lived with us for a while and is blind, did not like the dinging. He rhetorically asked, “How am I supposed to hear the cars with all that noise?”
Also, I saw seagulls. I had failed to register how there just haven’t been any. The squawking and bickering made me laugh. Remember the scene from Finding Nemo? Mine!
Yeah I was out and about. I had to re-go out get a second scraper even since the first I bought had some plastic parts which didn’t last with the heat gun.
These are some grande stores. Big enough to contain city blocks. Or several 747s. And then there are the parking lots. The stores are so big it takes forever to walk to another; pedestrian traffic is clearly expected to be from car to store and back. Generally the employees are either quite young or not young at all.
M F and Mme S of the Lakota are over. It is interesting to hear M F ruminate. He explained the Native American name identifies a unique person in the group. Thus a mistake does not stain anyone else. Names are given to allow for continuity from past lives as this incarnation is also not our first, and being identified gives us guidance as we develop.
Speaking of names, apparently Sioux is not the self given name of his people. Rather, it came from Canada, specifically French Canadians who asked the northern indigenous people what’s the name of those guys in the south. On top of that, Lakota itself is actually part of something longer. This renaming happened all over the place, physical landmarks such as mountains and rivers being most self evident.
He may be on the bus! For the whole trip!! Cool!!!
I’ve really gotten nowhere with disconnecting the electric to the lift and other accoutrements. I’m also dubious on whether I can really manage all the rust abating on time. Stuff like filling in the seat bolt holes is apparently done best by a welder. Tomorrow I’ll go on a road trip in the bus to get fuel and estimates on it all to make a better decision on what I’m doing.
