Light Up The Sky
That’s it: we are electrified, dampened and packed; the bed is in place and the refrigerator is refrigerating; bikes are secure and we even have a little porta potty.
The decision was made to take one bench. With only one to reattach, we can carry it with us no big deal and only have to undo the little counter that I put up on top of the refrigerator. That’s 12 screws total. M B is graciously and patiently going to wait until our return, sometime in the fall, for us to decide what to do with the fella.
We are on the road, with Mme Awesome at the helm on her inaugural drive and both of us wearing our chainsaw ear protection. The plan is to trade off every 90 miles for as long as we can. 🚌
Save for cruising through Amarillo, which was made exciting due to the combo of rain, some minor flooding on the interstate. ineffective wipers, and construction, the trip was easy enough.
We drove towards an incredible lightning storm. I mean really, there more lightening, with most of it way out there somewhere. Sometimes we could see the gigantic forks; more often, helped by the clouds, the effect was of an eerie false dawn.
About 2 we pulled into a rest area, tossed up some curtains, and settled in for sleep. With all the wind and rain further increased our appreciation for El Mamobus.
We got a ton done at M B’s friendly, comfortable house, extremely supported by the fun M B himself, who, by the way, is also a chef! All of us, M O too, agreed M B was better known as Tio B.
