Edging Ever Closer
Well we looked at three places for sale. One a condo, a freestanding house on half an acre, and an acre and a half of land. All are walking distance to the little town.
As far as I’m concerned, the land is off the list because it costs more – really, too much – to build a new house. Plus, building another house rather than living in an existing one means expending a ton of resources.
The freestanding option looked interesting online, except in person it was not made too well, was awkwardly laid out, and only had extensive windows facing north, which keeps the place cold.
The condo, the least expensive, seems to be spot on: walking and mountain biking out the door, with nice trails less than a 100 yards away; can walk to the semi-nearby small town center; less maintenance to deal with; closest to the road into / out of town.
Can you tell it snowed?

Why Crestone? Not needing to drive for decent biking and walking is fabulous; stunning mountains with trails accessible by foot; community; end of the road; clean streets; not costly; anti spray philosophy; shuttled biking is less than an hour and a half away; and one of my favorite trails is across the valley.

Need to find out if the bus can be parked; any noise through the walls; and get an inspection.
